Non-invasive, drug-free Laser therapy

an alternative therapeutic option for pain management

Most common questions

Q. What is K-Laser ?

A. K-Laser is a safe, dynamic, powerful treatment using high powered laser to treat chronic pain conditions affecting the muscle and skeleton. It can be used all over the body, for any age and any skin colour and type. K-Laser is pain free with no side effects.

Q. How does it work ?

A. K-Laser works by using specific wavelengths of light to stimulate the body's natural ability to heal. Effects of laser therapy include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. During K-Laser Therapy, infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level increasing metabolic activity within the cell. By improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane, the increased production of cellular energy (ATP) is stimulated. The cascade of beneficial effects that follows includes increased cellular function and tissue repair.

Q. How long does each treatment take ?

A. The typical treatment is 4 to 8 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Q. How often should a patient be treated ?

A. Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week, tapering to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.

Q. How long before the results are felt ?

A. You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. The measurable effects of K-Laser therapy are cumulative in nature, and usually require multiple treatments. The number of sessions will depend on the exact diagnosis, age and overall health status of the patient. In general, acute conditions can be treated more frequently and require fewer visits, typically 4-6. Chronic, and especially painful conditions may require 6, 10 or more visits.

Q. Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment ?

A. Yes. Laser Therapy is often used with other forms of treatment, including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, soft tissue mobilization, electro-therapy and even following surgery. Other healing modalities are complementary and can be used with laser to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Q. Does it hurt ?

A. There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels a mild, soothing warmth or tingling. Areas of pain or inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction. There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels a mild, soothing warmth or tingling. Q. Are there any side effects or associated risks ?

A. During more than twenty years of use by healthcare providers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment.

Q. Has effectiveness been demonstrated scientifically ?

A. Yes. There are thousands of published studies demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of Laser Therapy. Among these, there are more than one hundred rigorously controlled, scientific studies that document the effectiveness of laser for many clinical conditions.

    Verrucae

Verrucae are a viral infection of the skin, usually taking the form of small hard, raised nodules. These are clusters of your own skin cells infected and transformed by the virus. Many people will develop an immune suppression to their warts or verrucas and spontaneous remission will occur within 2-5 years. Laser treatment is a very effective method of removing them; it’s quick and safe. Scarring is highly unlikely as the wart is killed off by coagulating the feeder blood vessels rather than just chipping away at the surface layers.

We successfully treat stubborn verrucas and fungal nails using our medical grade K Laser. This works by the laser light heating up and destroying the infected material. The laser energy penetrates the lesion and seals the blood supply so that the verruca cannot survive.

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases, 1-2 treatment for young, small lesions. However, larger and established lesions can be very deeply rooted and may require a number of sessions to remove.

    Fungal Nails (Onychomycosis)

Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the fungal infection goes deeper, nail fungus may cause your nail to discolour, thicken and crumble at the edge. It can affect several nails. Nail fungus is also called onychomycosis. When fungus infects the areas between your toes and the skin of your feet, it's called athlete's foot (tinea pedis).

The procedure requires a course of 6 treatments taken at 3 per week for 2 weeks, then an interval of 1 month. The process can be repeated if required. Home care is also advised at the consultation. All toenails are treated.
